We see the world through our eyes — Eyes that are limited in many ways. We view the world from an altitude determined by our heights, through a lens with a focal length of approximately 20 mm, and we capture sequences of moments that last only about 1/10th of a second each. Photography blows away those limitations and give us perspectives that we rarely are able to capture with our own eyes. With a modern camera, we can capture moments that last anywhere from 1/16,000th of a second to minutes and hours. Place a camera on a unique location and we can capture the same moment from a different altitude — close to the ground, high up on a tripod or on a drone. Using lenses with different focal lengths, we can capture fields of views far narrower and wider than than the capability of a human eye.
Photography shows us the world from different perspectives than the ones we experience in our daily lives.
