We see the world through our eyes — Eyes that are limited in many ways. We view the world from an altitude determined by our own heights, through a lens with a focal length of approximately 20 mm, and we capture sequences of moments that last only about 1/10th of a second each. Photography blows away those limitations and give us perspectives that we rarely are able to capture with our own eyes. With a modern day camera, we can capture moments that last anywhere from 1/8000th of a second to minutes and hours. Place a camera on a unique location and we can capture the same moment from a different altitude — close to the ground, high up on a tripod or on a drone. Using lenses with different focal lengths, we can capture fields of views far narrower and wider than what the human eye is capable of.

Photography, thus, shows us the world from different perspectives than the ones we experience in our daily lives.
